Baby Dedication

Today we dedicated Moses to the Lord, to our families to help us raise Moses and to the community at common Ground. Baby dedication at Common Ground is a public

recognition of the importance of the parent’s role in providing a nurturing and loving context

where their children can experience the Gospel first hand and grow into a mature and

personal decision to follow Christ. Our participation in dedicating Moses is a time for Bill and I to commit publicly to raise Moses in the way of Christ. It is a time where we are to recognize the importance of our commitment to our own spiritual formation and thus the formation of Moses' spirit as well. Common Ground states their desire is to journey with us, to pray for us, and to help equip us to live out the calling that we have received as parents.

We are so thankful for our family, friends and community who are committed to see that the journey we take as a family is the way God intended it to be.

Deuteronomy 6:4-9 begins with the beautiful Jewish Creed, "Hear, O Israel: The LORD our God, the LORD is one. Love the LORD your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your strength." It goes on to say "These commandments that I give you today are to be upon your hearts. Impress them on your children. Talk about them when you sit at home and when you walk along the road, when you lie down and when you get up. Tie them as symbols on your hands and bind them on your foreheads. Write them on the doorframes of your houses and on your gates."

This is what we are committed to, to love the Lord our God with all that we are, and as Jesus also emphasizes with this greatest command, we will also love others sacrificially. We commit to teaching Moses these 2 greatest commands, and we commit to living these commands out ourselves. We know many mistakes will come, and many already have, but we ask for grace, for loving correction and instruction. We ask for continued prayers and love.

Hi Brileys,

You probably don't recognize me. Bill, I am Jenny Biggerstaff's sister. We met you at the hospital. I have been so excited to hear about your trip to pick up your son and was thrilled when I noticed your blog on their website! Moses is absolutely beautiful and that smile just truly melts my heart. Congratulations on your beautiful family!
