Well...we are expecting. For those of you who don't yet know, Bill and I are adopting.
So...this past summer, Bill, the verbal processor that he is, spit out the thought of us having children, and I freaked.
And me, the internal processor that I am, deeply thought it over for about 3 days, and fell in love with the idea of us being parents! I brought up my thoughts at dinner three days later, and...he freaked, "I was just thinking out loud!"
So, we began to fast, pray and process. We began talking with some of you, and received lots of great advise, questions to think over and God spoke a lot.
We have both desired to adopt since we were young, and our desire for this has just grown over the past years.
We have not tried to have our own, and maybe one day we will, but we really have no desire to have our own for now. We completely believe it is an amazing miracle and complete honor to have your own children, and hold adoption in the same regard.
So, in October we slowly began taking steps toward adoption. We researched countries with little or no "safety net" for orphaned children, and countries with the most need. We landed on the Democratic Republic of the Congo, (Formerly Zaire) and have been working with Our Family Adoptions, who work with an orphanage in the DRC. http://ourfamilyadoptions.org/
The DRC is the most conflicted country in the world, one of the top three most impoverished and one of the most orphaned. It is a country rich in culture and mixed with beautiful people.
So, with all the details aside, all of our paperwork landed in the hands of the orphanage in the DRC the second week of Jan. We are looking at possibly a late Sept homecoming of our child, we'll see...whatever God wants to do.
We need your prayers, and would love to share this journey with all of you.
