The honor of washing feet

Tonight I was sharing the icing off of my cookie with my friend from the Abbie Hunt Bryce Home, we spilled it all over one of her Croc Shoes...with holes in them. So, the icing obviously found a nice home in all of those tiny holes, and it was a fiasco trying to clean it off of her shoe and out of those holes.
So, since she is too weak to lift her foot, I bent my head under the table to scrub her shoe. With no luck, I got on my knees and took her foot, with sores on it (covered with a sock) into my hand and gently took it out of her shoe. As my hand was inside this warm and moist shoe (like any of our shoes are when we first take them off) cleaning these bothersome holes, I looked up at her.
And in that moment I invisioned two events from the Bible, one, when the woman who had lived a sinful life washed Jesus' feet with expensive perfume, her tears and her hair (Luke 7:36-50)... I thought of her weeping and fervent love for Jesus, and the love he has also invited all of us to share in...
which brought me into thinking on another scenerio from the Word when Jesus washed the disciples feet, and then invited them/us to do the same. "When he finished washing their feet, he put on his clothes and returned to his place...'Now that I, your Lord and Teacher, have washed your feet, you should also wash one another's feet." -John 13:12&14
God has invited us to experience Him in the ordinary, in the dirty...in the honor of washing one anothers feet. For he is found there.
